Hardware, software,
and everything
between.

I'm Himanshu, a Mechatronics Engineering graduate obsessed with the “everything between.” From low-level hardware to high-level software, I build across the entire stack. When I'm not debugging or soldering, you'll find me on the soccer pitch, playing basketball, exploring new music, or sitting front row at a stand-up comedy show (maybe if my stand-up career takes off I won't need this site anymore).

About

From computer vision to electric race cars

Mechatronics Engineering graduate from McMaster University (B.Eng, 3.9 GPA, 4× Dean's Honor List) with professional experience at Tesla, Ayar Labs, and McMaster's Intelligent & Cognitive Engineering Lab.

I specialize in hardware test, robotics, machine learning, PCB design, and hardware-software integration from building AI-powered hearing aids and reverse-engineering ICs to designing and leading multi-layer PCB design for electric race cars.

Hamilton, Ontario
McMaster University ICE Lab
Undergraduate Researcher
Developing a machine learning pipeline to reverse-engineer integrated circuits from SEM imagery using automated segmentation, vectorization, and connectivity analysis. Exploring deep and unsupervised models to extract circuit features and generate netlists for data-driven IC layout reconstruction.
PythonDeep LearningComputer VisionUnsupervised ML
July 2024 – July 2025
San Jose, California
Ayar Labs
Junior Software Engineer Photonic Hardware Systems
Built and automated hardware test systems for silicon photonic and laser products at wafer, die, and packaged levels. Developed a convolutional autoencoder anomaly detection program saving 5–7 hrs/week of manual inspection. Implemented a real-time threaded PID controller reducing unit test time by 30%. Built scalable data logging infrastructure for remote monitoring across multiple test stations.

May 2023 – Aug 2023
Palo Alto, California
Tesla
Supervisory Controls & DAQ Intern
Developed supervisory controls (PLC), HMIs, and Python automation tools for the Megapack energy storage system. Researched and presented a cybersecurity file transfer device for deployment at military sites across the US. Designed and built a hardware test bench to replicate field equipment. Maintained CLI scripts for testing sitemeters across hundreds of Megapack installations.

LV/HV Electronics Lead
Led a team of 10 students to develop the EV control system. Designed multi-layer PCBs from schematic to layout in Altium Designer, including a 4-layer board for low-voltage control of HSDs powering sensors, devices, and shutdown connections controlled by an STM32 microcontroller. Regular repairs, testing, and troubleshooting of the vehicle's electrical system.
